Introduction to the Mystic Torah Adult Education Program
I love being Jewish and often times I struggle as an individual and as a rabbi to fully understand how to reach my fullest potential Jewishly.
After years of talking with Jewish adults all over the country, I came to realize that there are many others who feel the same way but who have not found a forum for learning, doing, praying, where they feel that they are accepted and appreciated, that they are in a broad sense, among kindred spirits.
I imagine that there are many of you who may be looking for a non-conventional Jewish program for adults. My work is to find ways of reaching out to you who want to learn, who want to engage with other seekers of Jewish learning and spirituality.
For example, you might like doing social justice projects for secular and worthy organizations. Through the Mystic Torah class on tikkun olam, fixing the world, you can engage in these projects through expanded understanding of how important what you are doing truly is in terms of Jewish practice, how it resonates throughout Jewish history , how the energy you expend on giving to others will echo throughout the future.
Every class in The Mystic Torah Program not only focuses on the substance of Jewish learning, but also weaves teachings from the Jewish mystical traditions throughout each lesson. Jewish mysticism adds “soul” to our learning and offers openings into the deep richness that always have been part of Judaism though it has not always been taught.
You are welcome in my class. There are no pre-requisites for most of the classes. As long as you have the desire to learn and grow, it does not matter what you know or do not know. I will help you find your way into the Jewish classroom.
Lastly, our goal is to afford maximum flexibility in the program that is designed around each participant’s needs. You can take one or all of the classes. Given the great technology at our disposal, opportunities to share a Shabbat meal with others locally or across the world are also available.
There is a structured program for those who would like to culminate their first units of study in a ceremony that also is appropriate for an Adult B’nei Mitzvah celebration. You will find this information and more on our Mystic Torah pages.
Shalom for now!
Rabbi Deb
